Words from the couple:
Our wedding day turned out to be so much more magical than we expected! From the time the day started all the stress of planning disappeared, and we were truly able to enjoy every single moment. We were so lucky that we found amazing vendors who worked well together and we didn’t have to worry about anything. It was amazing to be able to look out and see all of our friends and family sitting together and enjoying it as much as us.
We wanted both our wedding ceremony and reception to be very colorful and personalized. Since we had a smaller Indian wedding (only 200 guests! Seriously - that's small for an Indian wedding) We wanted our guests to truly be a part of the day. Mahesh made his grand entrance in an all white Lamborghini with his friends and family dancing their way to the ceremony site. Trina was escorted down the aisle partially by her parents and then her maternal aunt and uncle, which is an Indian tradition. Our priest really made the wedding ceremony engaging, enjoyable and funny! We created a wedding program using our bitmojis to illustrate the key points of the ceremony for our guests to follow along. Too bad bitmoji didn't sponsor us!
For our reception, we decided to bring in a Hollywood movie premiere element. We loved our engagement photo session (side note Carissa is THE BEST) so we decided to use several of those pictures to create personalized “tickets” for our guests for the reception that would also tell them their table number. We also created a one-sheet movie poster that reflected the title of our movie “What Happens in May”. One of the cool new iems we had at our reception was a giant LED wall so we wanted fill that with videos & images throughout the night. For the bridal party entrances we made short videos to introduce each others parties. Mahesh introduced Trina’s bridesmaids on how he got to know them and Trina did the same for his groomsmen. Our parents did a short dance as they came in. For our grand entrance, we filmed a short “movie trailer” titled “What Happens in May” which explains how we met and the progression of our relationship. We called it What Happens in May because completely coincidentaly we met in May, got engaged in May, and also got married in May! It was so well done and looked like an actual moive - it was filmed by our amazing wedding videographer, Daniel Marcha. Once we entered, we went into our first dance and surprised our guests with a choreographed medley of songs from the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s - from UB40, Michael Jackson, a Bollywood song, Backstreet Boys, and finished it up with Florida Georgia Line. In addition to having speeches, we also had family and friends do a choreographed dance where we jumped in at the very end (real surprise was that Trina just found out she had a choreographed part in the dance about 30 minutes before!) Another fun thing we did was have family and friends self tape a clip of them lip syncing to Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up & Dance With Me” and our videographer edited that together into a music video. Now to the really good stuff - dessert! Since our favorite cake flavor is funfetti we had a delicious funfetti cake with cream cheese frosting and also a marble with Baileys buttercream as well as dessert bar. The dance floor was packed until 1am and we had a midnight snack of tacos and nachos! It was so fun dancing the night away with our friends and family and seeing both of our sides get along so well!
Advice to couples:
1.) Take a breath! You’ve put in the time into planning - now’s the time to sit back and enjoy it all.
2.) Be prepared to always be ready for pictures. Carissa was great at keeping us laughing and making the pictures so much more fun!
3.) Bring an extra pair of flats to change into when your feet get tired!
4.) Eat! It’s hard but make time to grab a bit of that delicious food you picked out.
