wayfares chapel palos verdes / loft on pine long beach / bessie + derek
Bessie and Derek met at my friend's crossfit gym called Code 3 in Torrance. I went to crossfit a couple times with them but I couldn't handle. This fit couple are beautiful human being. Bessie is a nurse and Derek is a fire fighter.
The day started at Bessie's grandmother's home. It was the hottest day of the year. We headed to Wayfarers Chapel and did the first look there. Tear. Bessie and Derek said their written/personal vowels to each other, just them two, so sweet. This is my all time favorite chapel. After the ceremony, we headed to Loft on Pine. I have been dying to shoot at this epic venue in Long Beach. They had a unique and awesome Peruvian dance team perform a few numbers. I was in awe the whole day with the beautiful details, the love that was in the air and Bessie and Derek's love for their family and friends and one another.

Words from the bride:
The highlights for both Derek and I was the short time we had to ourselves in the bridal suite once we arrived at the reception. It gave us a moment to let things sink in that we just got married! In the excitement and whirlwind of the day, you appreciate the down time before the fun and celebration begin.
So the story of choosing Wayfarers Chapel...As a little girl of 5 years old I visited the chapel with my parents and said I dreamed of getting married there someday. Fast forward to wedding planning and mom still remembered that day! It's a wonderfully gorgeous chapel with spectacular ocean views so it was pretty much a no-brainer! I couldn't be happier that we chose Wayfarers Chapel to get married at!
Our vision for the wedding was wanting it to feel romantic, simple yet elegant. Our colors of deep red with accents of peach, white, copper and greenery everywhere brought in the warmth we wanted our guests to feel. I'm a sucker for all things historical so the Loft on Pine was a great choice. Their grand hall with original artwork from the early 1900s, chandeliers, iron work and exposed brick from the original construction was perfect. Plus we incorporated some classic Spanish quotes from literary greats such as Pablo Neruda. We also wanted to add in some of my Peruvian cultural flair with Peruvian dancers throughout the dinner. It was an awesome show! Derek and I consider ourselves to be pretty laid back easy going people, so our vision for the wedding was one that would show how much we love each other and our families, and where where our guests would enjoy themselves, eat well, and drink even more!
Do you have any advice for future brides
Yes! Wear comfortable heels. Remember what's important to you and your fiance. Don't be afraid to say no under pressure. Hire a wedding planner/day of coordinators! It's super important to have someone you can work with well leading up to the wedding day and especially the day of.
