san juan capistrano engagement photographer / bessie + derek

I'm so in love with this session at San Juan Capistrano Mission. This was my first shoot of the year so I was itching to do an engagement session after the holidays. You know you are in the right profession when you can't wait to go back to work. If I were to describe this session in one word, it would be effortless. Bessie and Derek are beyond gorgeous and I love how they did a fancy look, and then a casual look. My good friend Daniel Wu, owner of a CrossFit gym called Code 3 in the South Bay referred them to me. Bessie + Derek met at the crossfit gym when they first opened 3 years ago. The were friends first and that friendship evolved into a beautiful relationship.

We had so much fun during our engagement session. Bessie + Derek were flirty, playful and full of laughs from the very start.

After the mission, we headed to Derek's uncles boat in Newport Beach. It was beautiful weather and his uncle had chips, dip, guacamole ready for us. Bessie is a nurse and Derek is a firefighter. I'm so happy he brought his chaps. I carried his jacket, that thing has got to weight over 10 pounds. We ended the day celebrating with confetti cake from Susie Cakes. Can't wait for their big day at Loft on Pine in Long Beach.
